New Look, Same Mission
By Shannon Smith on August 4, 2026
Today, AACT is introducing an updated visual identity. On behalf of the Governing Board, I wanted to take a moment to share some context about this update.
While our look is evolving, the heart of AACT remains the same. The American Association of Chemistry Teachers continues to be a community created by and for chemistry educators—a place where teachers share ideas, learn from one another, find support, and work together to inspire the next generation of students.
The updated branding creates a stronger visual connection between AACT and the broader American Chemical Society. In doing so, it reflects the important role chemistry educators play within the broader community of chemists, students, researchers, and industry professionals. Every scientist, researcher, and chemistry major begins their journey in a classroom, guided by a teacher who sparks curiosity and encourages discovery.
The values, relationships, and shared commitment that have defined AACT since its founding remain at the center of everything we do. The character of AACT is shaped every day by chemistry teachers—their generosity, creativity, and commitment to helping students succeed. Through the resources they share, the ideas they exchange, and the support they offer one another, members continue to strengthen a community that benefits educators and students alike.
As we move forward, I hope this updated brand helps create new opportunities to connect chemistry educators with the broader ACS community while continuing to recognize the vital role teachers play in inspiring the next generation of chemists.
The future of AACT will continue to be shaped by its members, and I look forward to what we will build together.
