The Chemistry that Keeps Trains Moving
The first transcontinental railroad was completed in 1869. A cross-country journey that used to take months could now be completed in a week. By the end of the 19th century, 200,000 miles of track would be laid. Few innovations were as instrumental to the growth of the modern era as the railroads.
