Putting Both Learning AND Fun in High School Chemistry: Metacognition is the Key! Mark as Favorite (1 Favorite)
WEBINAR (65 minutes) recorded January 26, 2023
Most students come to chemistry classes expecting to memorize their way through the material; some even doubt their ability to excel. However, there is a way to get students to focus on deep learning and to motivate them to actively engage in the course. This webinar, presented by Dr. Saundra McGuire and Lorenzo Foster, will present concrete strategies that transform students’ attitudes from lackadaisical to passionate by teaching them metacognitive learning strategies and providing fun activities to engage them in critical thinking.
This webinar has been planned in conjunction with our governing board as we work to provide professional development opportunities to address how to facilitate student learning in spite of educational gaps.
Presenters:
Dr. Saundra Y McGuire, Professor Emerita of Chemistry and Director Emerita of the Center for Academic Success, Louisiana State University
Lorenzo Foster, Honors and AP Chemistry teacher, St. Michael High School
