GAME in Electrochemistry, Activity Series, Electron Transfer, Electrons, Puzzles and Games. Last updated April 30, 2024.

In this game, created by Steve Sogo (with contributions from students at Laguna Beach High School), students will explore the activity series of metals by pitting pairs of metals and metal ions against one another and observing which one steals electrons from the other. After a brief introduction, students can play "capture the flag" by selecting a metal to defeat the computer opponent's metal and steal their "flag" (electrons) in a series of contests. Then, students can play a pong-style game where they use ions as the ball and try to bounce them towards metal atoms they can react with to maximize their score. Finally, two extension activities have students view videos of real-world reactions and create a particulate model of what they observed.
